Welcome to Creative Heritage
Creative Heritage Performing Arts is our weekly programme for children and young people who love to sing, perform, create and explore the rich traditions of cultures from around the world.
Through world folklore, music, dance and theatre, our members discover the stories, rhythms and traditions that connect communities across generations and continents. Along the way, they develop vocal and stage skills, build confidence, form lasting friendships and gain a deeper appreciation of the world's diverse cultural heritage.
Regular rehearsals lead to exciting opportunities to perform at concerts, festivals, community celebrations and music competitions throughout the year. Every performance is an opportunity to celebrate culture, inspire audiences and showcase the incredible creativity of our young people.
For many children, Creative Heritage Performing Arts is where their DREAM journey begins—a place to Discover their talents, Rehearse with purpose, Express themselves creatively, Achieve meaningful milestones and, in time, Mentor others.
A Year at Creative Heritage
Every term brings new creative opportunities and exciting goals to work towards.
🍂 Autumn Term
Our autumn programme combines preparations for the Sutton Music Festival with one of our biggest creative projects of the year. In 2026, all Creative Heritage members will take part in Young Creator Studio, working together to create and release original songs and music videos. The term culminates in our annual Christmas Showcase, featuring community performances, festive celebrations and the premiere of our Young Creator Studio productions.
🌸 Spring Term
The spring term focuses on developing performance skills, preparing for music competitions and exploring new creative opportunities. It's also when we begin planning and creating for our annual Around the World Festival, with members contributing ideas and performances. Also, during this term we hold some of our Health & Wellbeing Workshops.
☀️ Summer Term
Our summer programme is dedicated to rehearsals and preparations for the Around the World Festival—Creative Heritage's crown jewel celebration of world cultures. Through music, dance and theatre, our members showcase everything they've learned while sharing the beauty of cultural traditions with the wider community. Before we take a break for the summer, we celebrate achievements in true community style and run our FamOlympics event.
Where and When?
We're excited to be planning a move to a larger, dedicated dance and performing arts space in the heart of Sutton, giving our members even more room to rehearse, create and perform. As we finalise our arrangements here are our planned times and dates.
Where: Sutton Community Dance, St Nicholas Shopping centre, SM1 1AX
When: Saturdays, term time, starting on 12th September 2026.
Time: 2-3pm or 3-4pm (exact session times TBC)
Who can join?
At Creative Heritage, we are a friendly, supportive and inclusive community where children and young people grow through creativity, culture and shared experiences. We welcome those who are curious, enthusiastic and genuinely interested in music, performing arts and working together as part of a creative team.
Everything we create—from concerts and festivals to original productions and community events—is built through regular rehearsals and collaboration. We understand that life sometimes gets in the way, but we encourage our members to attend consistently and commit to the journey. Every rehearsal is an opportunity to learn, every contribution matters, and every member plays an important part in helping the whole group grow, create and perform together.
Our activities are open to children and young people of different ages and cultural backgrounds. Some projects have specific age requirements, so please get in touch for the latest information.
What else?
Creative Heritage is a volunteer-led organisation. To help cover venue hire, resources, equipment and the running of our regular activities, we ask members to make a £50 termly contribution. We are committed to making our activities as accessible as possible and offer:
