Art and Writing Contests for Children in Sutton

Have you heard yet? Creative Heritage is on the look for the future Picassos and Shakespeares of Sutton! This year, in our community Christmas event we want to include even more young residents with diverse talents.

As the most wonderful time of year fast approaches, our team has announced two contests, open to every child, resident of Sutton, between the ages of 4 and 17. We asked local primary and secondary schools to help us spread the word within their communities, so you may have seen some information about our contests in your school newsletter. If not, keep reading. Here come all the details you need to know!

Art Contest

Does your child spend hours drawing and painting? Let them create magic on canvas or paper with their favourite paint, felt tips or coloured pencils for our Art Contest. The topic is "My Traditional Christmas". We are looking for paintings or drawings that illustrate a Christmas tradition of your home. This may be an ethnic tradition or just one that is specific to your family. We ask you to submit a good quality digital copy (photo) of the piece on our website by 15th November, so our panel of judges can look at the creations. They will give First, Second and Third place to the best artworks in each of the three age categories. Physical copies (the original) of the pieces will be exhibited at our Christmas from Home and Around the World Festive Experience on 7th December, 2024.

Writing Contest

If your child has a flair for writing and putting words into rhymes or powerful sentences comes easy to them, we want to read their creations! Our writing contest carries the same theme "My Traditional Christmas". From the young wordsmiths we expect to see poems or short stories (up to 300 words) that portrait a Christmas tradition of your home. It could be a celebration that is specific to their cultural heritage or just a family tradition they truly enjoy and look forward to every year. All entries should be submitted by 10th November, so that we can select the best ones and include them in our very own book, produced, edited and published by Creative Heritage. This book will be available at our Christmas from Home and Around the World Festive Experience on 7th December, 2024 and then on Amazon.
