The skies must be shifting in the right direction, because Creative Heritage keeps getting blessings! We just received the news that our community group has been approved to receive one of the funding opportunities we applied for! How amazing is that!
What's the Funding?
If you remember, back in August we told you we are planning to work on a new project called Better Together. For it to be brought to life we needed about £30,000 and stretch them over 2 years. This was money was going to come potentially from the National Lottery Fund and The Community Action Sutton Fund.
Just a few days ago we got an email from Community Action Sutton, letting us know that we have been awarded the £5,000 we applied for to spend over a year on the events we planned under the Better Together project.
How will the Funds Be Spent?
Because we don't know yet if we will be approved for the other funding we applied for (£20,000), we will be very smart with how we allocate the funds. For starters, we will be focusing on the Christmas from Home and Around the World Festive Experience and making it a truly memorable event for all who get involved.
What this means for our Audience/Guests?
The most exciting news for all of our supporters is that receiving the funds means we do not need to increase the ticket prices and they will stay at just £5.00 per adult and £1.50 per child! These are extremely low prices for a festive experience in the current economic climate, but we are a non-profit organisation and our aim is to make a true difference in the community. We know that many children will sadly be priced out of meeting Santa this year, so we will bring him to our event. Families, the elderly and young people, regardless of their background and circumstances, all deserve to get the opportunity to share the holiday spirit in on of the most beautiful churches in our borough - Christ Church Sutton. Tea/coffee and small refreshments are still included in the tickets, so please do book yours while we have physical space to welcome you!
What this funding means for the Local Community?
Receiving the funds means we can invest in local craft makers and service providers. We can do our part in boosting the small local businesses just before Christmas. It will give us the chance to involve children in the creative part of the event with no additional cost to their families for rehearsals or costumes. We will be able to rent rehearsal and smaller event spaces from other nonprofit organisations, such as the DCF that have just arrived in Sutton and are making tremendous positive impact on our youths, giving them a safe space to enjoy their free time and learn new skills. Overall, we are interested in building an ecosystem of contacts and partners in the long run, so that everyone feels welcome, needed and appreciated. The true spirit of our Better Together project.
Why a Christmas Event is Important for Families and Residents in Sutton?
Christmas is truly a magical time of year and no matter who you are, what you are going through and what you believe in, there is certain change in the air that makes us all just that bit kinder, more generous and warmer towards others. Our aim is to show the traditional Christmas as we know it here in England, but also in other places around the world. We will tell a tale through dance, singing and drama that sets the holiday mood right and charges us all for the festivities and beyond. Bringing people together has a huge positive impact on mental health and sense of belonging. Not only does it make us feel happier, but also more secure, hopeful and settled right here where we are.
Come join us for this wonderful magic and let's prove we are always Better Together!
